The 2014 Election is still some time away but the earlier we start looking for a full roster of candidates the better we'll be by the time it rolls around and we mmay even pick up some more members along the way.

Refer back to the guidelines set down for the 2011 Candidates http://pirateparty.org.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1059 for more info about selection etc

There are 70 electorates (63 General and 7 Maori) in total, if each electorate had a representative and each of those people had 3 people helping them in their campaign, and all of those people were members, that would be 280 people working on the campaign. While this amount and having this many candidates may be unrealistic, making an early start and finding candidates for as many electorates as possible could give us a real boost and also provide the infrastructure we need to erect hoardings and deliver leaflets etc.

I appreciate your foresight and ambition for the party, but I'd like to point out that we have a lot more to do than just find candidates.

At the moment, the infrastructures we are trying to build are the ones to A) organize events (like the successful whisky tasting in Auckland last weekend), and B) communicate with the members we already do have effectively.

We should look for a full roster of people to be filling all the PPNZ positions in the board elections coming up on 3rd - 12th Nov and other local and assisting roles that we need. (more info on these elections at the IRC meeting tomorrow).

If we dominate our short term goals, get an effective team together and build a nationwide, active organization, then no it won't be unrealistic to have a full contingent of electorate and list candidates by 2014. These people will mostly come from people who will already have been actively involved with us developing policy, running local events etc.

Why wait until 2014 to get involved?
